One of my users run into a problem doing a restore. I am using the following code for that:

Api.JetRestoreInstance(instance, backupLocation, databaseLocation, StatusCallback);

And they are getting a FileAccessDenied error during the restore.

Checking with process monitor, the file that the access denied error happens on is: RVN02F.log

(RVN is my prefix)

There isn't anything else that is running at the moment, and nothing write/reads to the location we restore to.

More information: The backup was created on Windows 2008 and the restore attempted on Windows 2008 R2

Both servers are 64bit, both are running virtualized if that matters.

Most of the time when we see this it is a virus checker or something similar (file replicators like DropBox can do that too). Is that a possibility here?

The server where the backup is being attempted to be restored to is running ESET NOD32 4.2.40. Should I attempt restoring with the AV disabled?

The recommendation for ESENT files is exclude the database/logfile directories from AV scans.
