Hi,

I got a problem with JetRestoreInstance. Same code is working flawlessly on Win7/Win8 but it crashes on WS2003 R2 (fully updated) - when I debug the whole application hangs at 52% (restore callback).

Can you advise?

The ColumnConverter in EsentCollections uses the wrong type for DateTime and TimeSpan

I believe that that's because the internal representation of a DateTime and TimeSpan are actually 8-byte (64-bit) integers.
Using a reflector, I see that DateTime uses 'private ulong dateData;'
and TimeSpan uses 'internal long _ticks;'
to store their respective data.

Does that make sense?

Just tried today to add ManagedEsent to a Windows Store application and received an error.

Successfully installed 'ManagedEsent 1.8.2'.
Successfully uninstalled 'ManagedEsent 1.8.2'.

Testing Persistent Dictionary with sample code on WinXP and the 1.8.1 on WinXP received error:

Could not load type 'System.Reflection.IntrospectionExtensions' from assembly 'mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

'System.Reflection.IntrospectionExtensions' is new with .Net 4.5 -- and .Net 4.5 is not supported for installation on WinXP.

Falling back to the 1.6 dll resolved the error.

VS2010 Express is not able to build the solution. I'm currently installing a vs2010 pro trial to see if I can build a version 1.8.1 binary that targets .Net 4.0.

The reason it targets 4.5 is for Immersive support (also known as Windows Apps, formerly known as Metro). Immersive has a restricted CLR. There are many functions missing, and the Reflection model changed, requiring many insertions of 'GetTypeInfo()'.

GetTypeInfo() is implemented as an extension method, so it would certainly be possible to write similar extension methods. Then .net 4.0 could be targetted.

There may be other functions that will give headaches, but GetTypeInfo() is the one that I can recall off the top of my head.

I've got a full week this week, and then it's some vacation, so it may be a while before I could start to address this.

I found the NuGet package here:

http://nuget.org/packages/ManagedEsent

However, it only targets .NET 4.0. It doesn't target .NET 4.5, Windows Store, Windows Phone 8 or portable libraries.

These are the values they're supposed to be:

It would be great if PersistentDictionary has an option to set circularity for log files, it seems to me that log files got never deleted when I use PersistentDictionary or am I missing something?

Circular logging is turned on, but the checkpoint depth is 64MB and the logfile size is 1MB. That means you can see 64 logfiles created before any are deleted.
